PRE AND POST AFTERCARE

Before coming into your appointment here are a few things that you can do to prepare yourself and ensure a smooth session.

1 week before your appointment properly hydrate your body, drink lots of water and also hydrate your skin by applying lotion 3-5 times a day in the area you are interested in getting tattooed. Come in well rested and ready to go, get a good nights rest before coming in to your appointment.

Tattoo shops can get pretty cold, especially when you are spending a few hours or more in the shop. Set yourself up by bringing a few things to make yourself a little more comfortable. Such as wearing warm clothing, bringing a jacket, charger, headphones, water, an iPad, and candy or soda to give you that extra boost, food and any other snacks you might like to have.

First steps after getting a tattoo

After getting a tattoo, it is important to follow a few simple steps to ensure proper healing. Keep your tattoo clean and dry for the first 2-3 days, avoiding soaking it in water or exposing it to direct sunlight. Remember, your fresh tattoo is an open wound and has damaged skin that needs to regenerate in order for your tattoo to heal properly.

Before touching your tattoo be sure to properly wash your hands to avoid any cross contamination and infections. When washing your tattoo, avoid scrubbing for the first 10-14 days, use just enough soap to lather while gently massaging to wash away any plasma and adhesives, pat dry and let it breathe.

Apply a thin layer of unscented ointment or lotion to keep the skin moisturized and promote healing for at least the first 10-14 days, keep in mind that it is better to reapply than to have too much. Avoid picking or scratching at the tattoo to prevent scabbing.

Tattoo healing process

The healing process of a tattoo can take up to several weeks, depending on the area, size, and complexity of the design. During this time, it is important to continue to keep the tattoo clean and moisturized. Avoid exposing the tattoo to direct sunlight or soaking it in water. It is also normal for the tattoo to scab and peel during this time. Do not pick at the scabs as this can cause damage to the tattoo. Second skin can be left on for about five days. If you have second skin on please make sure that if it has any holes and or is leaking out you must take it of as soon as possible. If stuff is coming out that means bactriea can very easily get in.
